On Thursday
evening, the community celebrated the purchase of the "100-Acre Wood" by
the City of Bellingham. Hundreds of people were there, thankful that
this prime piece of nature was preserved with the intention of creating a
future park (instead of the Chuckanut Ridge Housing Development).
Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike and other dignitaries spoke eloquently.
The
bandZandt Combo (Kent, Robin, Diane, Doug) was invited to perform
along with many other local favorite musicians (Linda Allen, Tim McHugh,
Mockingbird and Dana Lyons were among the dozen or so performers). bZ
sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - then played our almost-completed
recording of "Coal Train." More on that one soon!
